Tyson Fury clash with Oleksandr Usyk ‘will be made’ and is ‘the ONLY fight’ Gypsy King is interested in, says Frank Warren… as WBC champion’s promoter teases possible mouth-watering clash with Anthony Joshua

  •  A bout between Tyson Fury and Oleksandr Usyk will happen, says Frank Warren
  • The English promoter insists it is the only fight that concerns his fighter Fury, 34
  • And a potential fight against Anthony Joshua, 32, could also be on the horizon

Tyson Fury’s ‘historic’ fight with Oleksandr Usyk for the undisputed heavyweight crown will happen, promoter Frank Warren vowed on Monday.

Usyk paved the way for a clash with WBC champion Fury after defending his WBA, WBO and IBF titles with victory over Anthony Joshua on Saturday.

The Gypsy King had teased retirement but after the fight in Saudi Arabia, he told the Ukrainian: ‘Get your cheque book out.’

Not since Lennox Lewis beat Evander Holyfield has one fighter ruled the heavyweight division but talks are under way for a December bout in the desert.

‘It’s a fight that I think will be made because both teams would like to see that happen,’ Warren, Fury’s co-promoter told BBC Radio 5 Live. ‘Usyk said after the fight that it’s the only fight he’s interested in, and it’s certainly the same case with Tyson.

‘It’s just a matter of where it will generate the most income because it’s a unique, historic fight, the whole world of boxing will be captivated by this fight.’

Usyk, who hoped to return to Ukraine after beating Joshua, insisted: ‘If I’m not fighting Tyson Fury, I’m not fighting at all.’

Warren also teased a possible meeting between Fury and Joshua.

‘If AJ manages to get a couple of wins under his belt — and I believe Tyson will beat Usyk — that may be a fight to be made,’ Warren added.

‘But AJ’s got to re-establish himself before you can even think about fights like that.’

The British rivals were slated to collide for the undisputed crown in 2021, only for that fight to fall through.
