A 25-year-old woman has started a beauty services membership, which is the first of its kind in Australia.
Kate Brady, from Brisbane, created Be There Beauty after her mounting frustration trying to book appointments while working in a corporate job – and it’s estimated to be worth $1 million.
People are able to make a standalone payment or pay a monthly fee which they can redeem on different services such as makeup artists and waxing, at a discounted price.
‘Originally we were an on-demand service booking app, however from being on the market with this product and getting customer feedback we realised there was still something missing,’ she told FEMAIL.

‘From the customer feedback we saw there was a gap in the market and we pivoted to change our focus to what the customer would want,’ Kate said.
‘We see where society is going in terms of a consumer preference; you’ve only got to look at your phone plan, your gym membership and Netflix to see that it made sense to offer a beauty membership.’
The subscription connects vetted beauty partners with clients and offers up professionals with varying experience so that they can showcase their talents.
Although there are apps that help make appointments already on the market, there aren’t subscription services doing it.

‘I love working with freelancers and different salons a lot so I would always be searching online and messaging different people going backwards and forth with times as I didn’t have a lot of time to fit them in,’ Kate explained.
‘So after I was made redundant from my job I really began to think more about this idea.
‘At the same time, all the beauty professionals I was seeing were advertising everywhere online trying to be noticed and I thought, “why isn’t there one platform where they can showcase their talent and what services they offer?”.’
If you spend an excessive amount of cash on beauty treatments, this subscription allows customers to save money when getting them done.
Be There Beauty has also partnered with over 300 beauty specialists across Australia, it’s like a gym membership but for your favourite beauty services.
Customers pay a monthly fee which they can then redeem on things like massages, injectables and lashes, while receiving a discount too.
Depending which membership they buy, they then have access to these services over a couple of months and many of the professionals can visit you at home.

The subscription is only in its beginning stages and Kate’s is putting all of her time and energy into making it the perfect service.
Although to some it may seem that the success she’s is starting to experience came easy, that’s far from the case.
Kate told FEMAIL that she works on the brand every single day, while also trying to juggle another business.
She has also had to go back to the drawing board numerous times to ensure the product the brand is delivering is perfect.

Originally when they were creating the app they wrote a business plan and spent time mocking up what they wanted it to look like and physically drawing it out on paper.
‘After this we went offshore for development and unfortunately this did not work out,’ she said.
‘We brought it back home and now have partnered up with a Melbourne developer Collective Us, who believe in the project as much as we do.
‘That has been a crucial part of making this work; finding a developer who shares the same vision about Be There Beauty as us.’

In the beginning, Kate had her concerns about changing Be There Beauty from strictly an app to a subscription service.
She was worried about changing what the brand was delivering after it had already launched but her brother and boyfriend encouraged her to follow through with her new idea.
‘My brother and my partner are my biggest supporters. When you work on something 24/7 it is crucial to have people around you supporting you,’ Kate said.
‘I am lucky that my partner sees the potential with Be There Beauty and has invested in it and my brother is also a very outgoing person so I love having him with me at any events we do.’

They help Kate make big decisions about where the product is going and it has helped Kate having outsider’s perspective.
‘My brother and partner don’t work on it day to day but when we come together and do some work on it we all have different strengths,’ she explained.
‘They are both engineers and I am from a marketing and communications background so it brings a good balance, I am lucky that they both believe in the brand and have great ideas to help it grow.’

‘For now we hope to revolutionise the Australian beauty world,’ she said.
