For many people, Uber and Uber Eats are the go-to apps when it comes to booking taxis or takeaways.

Now, the tech giant has launched a new subscription service in the UK that offers discounts on both apps.

The service, called Uber One, costs £5.99/month or £59.99 annually, and includes five per cent off rides, free Uber Eats delivery, and special offers.

Uber claims that members can save an impressive £19/month, based on average use across the two apps.

  • Unlimited £0 delivery on £15+ orders and £25+ grocery orders 
  • £5 in Uber Cash on eligible deliveries if Uber’s Latest Arrival estimate is missed
  • Special offers, promotions, and invite-only experiences

Uber One is already being used by five million people around the world, according to Matthew Price, General Manager, Uber Eats.

Speaking to MailOnline, he said: ‘We have membership live in 18 countries around the world and have 5 million members. We’re getting lots of positive signals.’

Uber One membership includes five per cent off UberX and XL, Uber Comfort, and Uber Green rides and 10 per cent off premium rides.

Meanwhile, on Uber Eats, members will get five per cent off eligibly delivery orders, and unlimited £0 delivery on orders over £15.

Membership also includes the ‘Uber One Promise.’

‘If your order is delivered after Uber’s Latest Arrival estimate, we’ll give you £5 in Uber Cash,’ Mr Price explained.

In addition, Uber says that the membership will give users access to perks including ‘special offers, promotions, and invite-only experiences.’

Awaneesh Verma, Head of Membership at Uber, said: ‘Uber One presents a fantastic opportunity for customers to save money with Uber across our entire platform.

‘The new service doesn’t just offer a discount across our platform, we’re also providing free deliveries, priority service and we’re giving all delivery members a price promise – providing them with £5 Uber cash if Uber’s Latest Arrival estimate is missed.’

In terms of savings, Uber claims that the membership will save the average users £19/month.

For example, if you were to order a £15 takeaway once a week with a £1.79 delivery fee, you would save £13.16/month with Uber One membership, according to Mr Price.
