An 18-year-old college student from California has died after attending a UC Irvine fraternity party over the weekend, leading to the frat’s interim suspension.

The parents of Noah Caleb Domingo, 18, of La Crescenta, California, said that they were notified of their son’s death via a phone call on Saturday morning, according to KTLA.

Noah’s father, Dale Domingo, said that he didn’t know how Noah — a member of the Sigma Alpha Epsilon chapter at UC Irvine — had died, but believed his son had attended a ‘big brother/little brother’ rush week party at SAE on Friday night.

Last week was SAE’s winter rush week, which culminated with an invite-only event on Friday night. Noah apparently indicated that he was interested in the event, according to reports.

Police said that they received a call that Noah was ‘unresponsive’ at an off-campus home and was found dead at about 9.40am on Saturday. It’s believed that he died about six hours beforehand, according to the Sacramento Bee.

Police said that there will be an autopsy, according to the Los Angeles Times. Police area also said to be waiting for his toxicology reports.

University officials declined to release details of what happened to Noah due to the active police investigation into his death.

However, the university did say that SAE had been put on an interim suspension and, consequently, must stop all activities while the investigation is ongoing.

A UC Irvine official said that the school intends to ‘examine the larger context’ surrounding Noah’s death and will be working with campus fraternities and sororities ‘to help ensure they are engaging in behaviors and practices that are in alignment with university policies and their own values.’

SAE’s chief executive officer, Mike Sophir, said in a statement obtained by the LA Times, that the fraternity is ‘heartbroken by the death of our UCI brother, Noah Domingo. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family and friends, and we appreciate the support the university and its staff have provided to students in this difficult time.’
