UFC 251; Biggest Event of The Year So Far

Following the lockdown restrictions that had many events cancelled or postponed, the UFC had been amongst the first to get events back underway again and did so to great success. Whilst restrictions were put in place to prevent participation many fans had been eagerly awaiting the return to get betting again, and these non uk betting sites and non uk casinos get great reviews for those looking to get involved – for those a little behind however the upcoming event of 251 may be the perfect opportunity as we will also see the unveiling of UFCs newly outfitted Fight Island in Abu Dhabi.

Whilst the early prelims and prelim card are filled with great fights, many will be looking at the main card as four of the fights are pretty huge – the first will be Jéssica Andrade and the rematch with Rose Namajunas, their previous fight saw Andrade capturing UFC gold from Rose after slamming her on her head for the KO. For many fans it’ll be interesting to see if Rose can come back from that defeat and look as dominant on the feet as she had done against previous champ Joanna, but it should be a great fight either way.

Following that we see former champ José Aldo matchup against Petr Yan – with Petr coming off the back of a victory of Urijah Faber late last year, the youngster is possible against his most difficult challenge to date in Aldo, but with Aldo coming off a tough fight history winning only three of his last eight fights after going a decade undefeated, it’ll be interesting to see if he is able to recover.

Prior to the main fight of the evening, we see a title fight between Alexander Volkanovski against Max Holloway. The Australian youngster was able to beat Holloway in a long five round slug on decision, but never being one to lose class Holloway took the defeat in stride. Looking to reclaim his title in the rematch clause, fans are hoping for an exciting follow up to the previous fight, something that Max always brings anyway.

Finally we come to the main card and another title fight between Usman and Burns – a bout marred in a little controversy. Many believe Burns doesn’t deserve to be there, but previous victories over both Demian Maia and former champ Tyron Woodley prove differently. Given a string of surgery too, Usman hasn’t been the most active fighter but always looks strong when he steps into the octagon – if Usman can keep hold in the belt it reopens the possibility for Masvidal, Edwards, and McGregor to all fall into contention following the uncertainty around who would take this fight in the first place. Either way, there’s some great fights to look forward to when the event takes place next weekend and if it’ll be your first event back after not watching any since March, it’ll certainly be a good one to refuel your combat sport addiction.
