UFC fighter Mike Perry was rushed to hospital with breathing difficulties on Saturday night after suffering a gruesome shattered nose during a bloody brawl in Uruguay.

Shocking images of the 27-year-old from Flint, Michigan show his face left with serious disfigurement during his loss to Vicente Luque. 

His injury, dubbed ‘worst nose break ever’ by fans was the result of a flying knee kick from Luque that left the bones shunted across his face. 

But Perry continued to fight until the final bell before undergoing emergency surgery and posting a defiant picture from his hospital bed captioned: ‘Still can’t knock me out.’

Perry followed up the image with a picture of his horrifying injury during the match, adding: ‘It was a tasty knee.’ 

His manager Abraham Kawa told ESPN he will stay in hospital for a few days after the surgery dealt with previous fractures in his nose too. 

UFC president Dana White tweeted a picture of Perry’s injuries with the shocked emoji face. 

One fan wrote on Twitter: ‘Mike Perry’s nose is on his cheek, what a disgusting injury!’

Another added: ‘One of the worst broken noses I’ve ever seen!’

And @kennyflorian agreed, writing: ‘Easily worst nose break I’ve seen in a fight ever. Perry and Luque are tough as hell. Nuff said.’

Following the fight Perry’s wife Danielle Nickerson wrote on Instagram: ‘Words cannot explain how proud of you I am. No matter what the outcome is I will always be in your corner.

‘This sport is the most unforgiving and brutal. We have always said we need to make a shirt that says ‘you get f***ed up doing this s***!!’ Because that is the truth.’

Perry did pick up an  extra $50,000 for the ‘Fight of the Night’ award after his bout was dubbed the most exciting of the card. 

His relentless three round brawl with Luque saw him lose on points after he suffered one of the worst broken noses in MMA history. 

His opponent Luque said: ‘He’s a tough guy. This is my first decision win in the UFC. And it couldn’t be to a tougher guy like Perry. Props to him.’
