This is the moment Santiago residents thought they were witnessing a UFO dance around the skies of their city.
Santiago in Chile, South America, is the perfect spot to view the night sky due to its dry air and clear skies.
Watching the clear night sky some residents of the capital thought that they were witnessing a bona fide alien spaceship.
Confused social media user Esethefanny Horato uploaded the footage captioned: ‘Does anyone know what these lights are? They appeared around the whole mountain range and were moving very fast.’
Erratic moving lights can be seen cross the Santiago sky in the video which sparked rumours that the flashing was a UFO.

Netizen Gabo tweeted: ‘I just saw something strange flying over the city.
‘I do not know if it is a UFO, something similar or perhaps a drone?’
Little Bobby Tables added: ‘Has a UFO just whizzed over Santiago?’
However the hearsay was squashed flat when the UFO theorists were informed that the lights actually belonged to Chilean Air Force (FACh) aircraft performing for a ceremony.
‘Kalabaza Vegan’ said: ‘UFOs seen in Santiago were FACh aircraft performing in a graduation ceremony.’
‘Raul Ignacio’ added: ‘They were FACh planes. Last year the same thing happened with the same aircraft.’
The mistake came weeks after CEFAA, the Chilean government agency which investigates unidentified aerial phenomena, released a nine-minute video of an object displaying unusual lights and flight behaviour.
The footage was filmed by two naval officers who swore that they had witnessed a UFO.
