European leaders will today meet in Paris for emergency talks over the Russia-Ukraine war as Keir Starmer indicates British soldiers could be sent to enforce any peace deal to resolve the war.

The summit in the French capital comes as U.S. and Russia officials hold their own negotiations to end the conflict in Saudi Arabia as Donald Trump declared he will soon meet Vladimir Putin.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has said his nation must be involved in any talks to end the war and urged Europe to unite around Ukraine.

Hello and welcome to MailOnline’s live coverage as European leaders convene in Paris later for emergency talks on the Ukraine-Russia war.

Keir Starmer says it’s time to put boots on the ground in Ukraine and send British troops in to the country to enforce a peace deal with Vladimir Putin.

The PM says the UK needs to be ‘ready and willing to contribute to security guarantees to Ukraine by putting our own troops on the ground if necessary’.

‘I do not say that lightly,’ Sir Keir wrote in The Telegraph.

‘I feel very deeply the responsibility that comes with potentially putting British servicemen and women in harm’s way. But any role in helping to guarantee security is helping to guarantee the security of our continent, and the security of this country.’
