Ulrika Jonsson is ‘desperately sorry’ Lauren Goodger has to go through second pregnancy alone

Ulrika Jonsson has spoken out in support of Lauren Goodger after the former TOWIE star announced she was pregnant with her second child following her split from her ex Charles Drury.

Lauren, 35, who welcomed daughter Larose with Charles in July 2021, left him this month after it emerged he had a fling with another women while the pair were on a break in November last year, with the reality star saying: ‘Charlie’s really hurt me.’

And television presenter Ulrika, 54, who split from ex Markus Kempen shortly after her second child Bo was born, says she is ‘desperately sorry’ Lauren is having to go through her second pregnancy alone.

Ulrika wrote in her column for The Sun: ‘I can’t imagine how painful that must have been for her to discover his fooling around. Maybe his age and immaturity just got the better of him…

‘I know, from personal experience, when the father of my second child abandoned me when I was eight months pregnant, the prospect was simply ­overwhelming.

‘It was, without doubt, the most ­difficult time in my life.’

Ulrika described having a baby as ‘unbearably hard work’, saying she struggled with how her body changed while pregnant, adding that the ‘pain and endurance’ of giving birth is ‘unlike anything you’ve ever experienced before’.

She recalled the ‘onslaught’ of breastfeeding and sleepless nights, writing that the ‘contemplation of having to do it all on your own is unbearable’.

Ulrika insisted she learned the hard way that she could not rely on another person to help her through and, even if a man promises ‘eternal bliss’, he may not stick around.

TV star Ulrika has been single since her 2019 divorce from third husband Brian Monet after the pair parted ways after 10 years together. They have one son, Malcolm, 13.

Her first marriage to cameraman John Turnbull was in 1990 and they have a son, Cameron, 27.  

The screen star’s second marriage in 2003 was to Lance Gerrard-Wright who, at the time, was a contestant on her TV show Mr Right. They share a daughter, Martha, 17.

The mother-of-four also has a daughter, Bo, 21, with ex-boyfriend hotelier, Marcus Kempen, who she separated from in 2000 after two years.

Lauren announced she was expecting her second child earlier this week.

She confirmed she was 16 weeks pregnant with another girl, days after it was revealed she had kicked her ex boyfriend out of the family home following his romp with another woman.

An insider told MailOnline that Charles knew Lauren was pregnant with their second child when he had a fling with Amy Gilbert, 24, during their brief split in November.  

Speaking to OK! magazine about her pregnancy, Lauren admitted the exes were debating whether to keep the baby.

‘We weren’t very careful and Charlie was really pleased, but being honest I was really in two minds about it. I was like, “I’m just getting myself back together – I’m going back to square one. Is this fair?” You get real mum guilt,’ she said.

Lauren explained: ‘A lot went through my mind which is why I’ve held out a bit longer until I’ve announced it. Charlie was like, “I really want this baby.” And I said, “So do I.” I made the decision to go ahead with it and I’m so glad I did.’

‘We had that little break [in November] and he came back and was like, “You’re not having a termination – I want this family.” I knew deep down I was going to go ahead with it, but I was scared. I’ve got to think of Larose too.’  

Lauren and Charles split in November last year just months after their baby daughter was born but reconciled three weeks later. They have since split again.

Speaking about the latest split, Lauren admitted that it’s ‘been a rocky time’, adding that ‘Charlie’s really hurt me’.

She said that the couple, who will be parents to two children under one, will co-parent and that it doesn’t feel like a final break up for the pair, confessing: ‘Who knows what’s going to happen next week, next month.’

The pregnancy announcement comes days after it was revealed Lauren had kicked Charles out of their home in the wake of the revelation he enjoyed a fling with another woman during their brief break-up in November.

Insiders told OK! Magazine last week that Lauren had been left ‘furious’ following news Charles had a steamy fling with Amy during their November split.   

Amy took to her Instagram Stories as news of Lauren’s pregnancy broke, to brand Charles ‘a disgusting excuse of a man’.

Amy wrote: ‘Wouldn’t usually come on social media to voice my opinion but after today I feel like I had to.’

Addressing Charles she continued: ‘Now this all makes so much sense why you ran off so quickly, why you was so brash and evil that you wanted me to make my decision so quickly so it suited YOU, you wouldn’t support me because it would ruin your whole life.

‘Everything was about YOU, you made me feel so alone. You really are a disgusting excuse of a “man”.’  

Lauren lookalike Amy claimed that Charles reached out to her during their break and they began sleeping together before he reunited with Lauren.

Charles has admitted to the steamy tryst which he has labelled a ‘mistake’, and said: ‘I was stupid and things happened’.

Amy has claimed that Charles reached out to her via direct message on Instagram and invited her to his home in East London for sex, before spending a weekend together.

Amy told The Sun: ‘We were messaging for a couple of days on there and then he wanted me to go and meet him in a local place he was living – and I did.

‘I slept with him on that night, it was quite intense first of all, then he asked to see me again the following day. I then went and met him again.  

Explaining that things quickly went south, Amy said: ‘The reason it all cut off was because I was round there and it must have been about half 12 at night. I saw Lauren kept popping up on his phone. I said to him, “I understand you’ve got a baby together but what are you talking about at half 12 at night?”‘

Amy said that they had a bit of a ‘barney’ and Charles told her that he wants to have his daughter in his life. The next day she saw in the media that Charles and Lauren were back together.

Amy said she was disappointed he hadn’t been honest about his relationship with Lauren and claimed he repeatedly told her their relationship was ‘toxic’.  

She revealed that she reached out to Lauren to tell her what had been going on and the reality personality replied telling her she would call her later.

However she never heard from Lauren and claims she only received a call from Charles asking her to ‘stop ruining his life’. They haven’t spoken since.

Charles told the Sun that his relationship with Amy was a ‘mistake’ and he ended things after deciding he wanted to sort things out with his family.

The whirlwind romance between Lauren and Charles first came to light in October 2020 when Lauren teased she was dating a mystery man, who was soon to be identified as Charles.

Lauren found fame on The Only Way Is Essex while in a on-off, 12-year relationship with ex-fiancé Mark Wright.

The TV star discovered she had lost the unborn child while appearing as a contestant on ITV talent show Dancing On Ice in 2013, and later admitted she has little choice but to ‘carry on.’ 

Discussing the loss on Channel 5 show In Therapy in 2017, she said:  ‘I was on a TV show that was quite intense. I had to try and perform when I was quite far gone. It didn’t last.’ 

Lauren and Jake split for the first time later that year before rekindling their romance in 2015. 

Shortly after their final split in May 2016, Lauren told OK! of her former jailbird ex: ‘I fell out of love with him. I know some people say you wake up one day and things click, but that didn’t happen to me; it was a gradual thing.

In 2019, Lauren opened up about her two year romance with Joey, who was sentenced for drug related crimes, saying: ‘My ex was my biggest mistake. I wasted two years when I could have been dating. I wish I hadn’t waited for him to come out.’
