Ulrika Jonsson reveals she had sex ONCE in eight years during her marriage to third husband

Ulrika Jonsson has revealed she had sex with her husband Brian Monet just once in eight years.

The TV presenter, 51, announced in April she and the advertising executive were divorcing after eleven years of marriage.

Writing in The Sun, Ulrika admitted she thought she would never have sex again shortly before her 50th birthday and felt part of her life was ‘over’.

She said: ‘Nearly two years ago, just before my 50th birthday, I remember thinking I might have to just accept that I would never have sex ever again.

‘The reason I thought this is because I had not had sex for four and half years. And the time before that was four years prior. I was living in a sexless marriage for nearly a decade.

‘That just didn’t feel right. It felt unnatural and as if part of my life was over.’

The former Celebrity Big Brother winner went on to say she felt rejected and perplexed during her marriage.

Despite questioning her husband on how their relationship got to where it was, she felt she never got a response.

Ulrika wrote that going through menopause at the same time she was struggling in her marriage ‘could’t have made [her] feel worse’ and hampered her confidence.

The TV star said there was great sexual chemistry between her and Brian when they first met and she’s still not sure why it disappeared as the years went by.

She said Brian was an excellent step-father to her three children and was also a doting dad to their son Malcolm, ten.

Ulrika noted the couple never had the best communication skills and while she described herself as an ‘open book’, she felt Brian was the opposite.

The couple went to marriage psycho-therapy sessions where Ulrika felt Brian lacked empathy.

She added that they would continue to co-parent from separate houses and hopes they will reach a ‘greater point of neutrality’ in the future.

Ulrika also spoke candidly about her split during a recent appearance on Loose Women.

Asked how she was feeling, she said: ‘A bit emotional actually now… all of last year was incredibly tough.

‘Every minute of every day, genuinely for me. It was kind of harder [that the news wasn’t public] because you are putting on a front of going, “everything is fine!” but it’s not.’

‘The first torture was thinking about the children and then the second one was “Oh my god, when this comes out…the papers, this is her third marriage, she has failed again”. It’s inevitably the woman’s fault and responsibility,’ said the former weather girl.

Asked about when cracks started to show in their 11-year marriage, she added: ‘I just think probably the last couple of years.

‘I have tried to go through all that, us women are quite good at being introspective and analysing too much. There is always that one thing that tips you over the edge.’

She added: ‘I think there is just a moment when you realise you can’t do it on your own. I really believe in [couples] counselling, psychotherapy is amazing. I have gone on my own [to therapy].

‘I felt like I was dealing with things on my own a lot of the time and found it really hard to cope, you are trying to keep things even in front of the children but it’s just not possible. It’s just not going to happen, especially when they are older.

‘They are emotionally mature, my girls, and they [pick up when you are sad] more so than you think.’

In 2014, Brian also adopted her daughter Bo, now 18, from the presenter’s relationship with German hotel boss Markus Kempen.

Ulrika has two other children, Cameron, 24, from her marriage to John Turnbull (1990-1995) and Martha, 14, from her union with Lance Gerrard-Wright, (2003-2005).
