ULTIMATE hangover cure? Dietician reveals recipe for drink she claims will heal post-alcohol agony

A New York City dietician has shared the recipe for what she claims is the ultimate hangover cure – and it requires just four ingredients.

For years, people have attempted to find the perfect remedy for any alcohol-induced discomfort – but Monica D’Agostino believes she has finally discovered the secret to feeling better after a fun-filled night out.

The registered dietician credits a drink that she calls ‘recovery lemonade’ with rejuvenating her after consuming a lot of alcohol.

She spilled her secrets on TikTok and quickly went viral – gaining more than three million views since the video was posted last month – and turning dozens of people into ‘recovery lemonade’ converts.

According to Monica, who has a Bachelor’s Degree in Nutrition and a Master’s Degree in Dietetics, drinking a combination of water, lemon juice, ginger, and turmeric will help you feel better after a long night of partying.

‘I’m a dietician who lives in New York and likes to go out every weekend. I know a lot of dieticians on this app like to pretend that they’re always eating fruits and vegetables but nobody does that, it’s not realistic,’ she began in the viral clip.

‘I wanted to show you guys what I make when I’m trying to feel better about myself if I had, like, a really tough weekend.

‘I’m going to show you what I do when I’m scared – when I had a long weekend and I want to feel like I’m doing something to get some nutrients and something in my body to act like it never happened.’

Monica started with a large, 24 ounce jar filled with water. She then mixed in three tablespoons of lemon juice.

She also added three tablespoons of Gourmet Garden ginger stir-in paste – which costs about $4 at Walmart or Target.

‘Sometimes you just don’t have time, enough of shaming people into thinking they need to do everything perfectly. This is literally a tube from the store,’ she said about the ginger paste. ‘If you think it’s gross, fine. Cut your own ginger.’

The packets have zero calories and zero added sugars, no preservatives, and they're gluten free. They cost $8 for a box of 60 packets at Walmart

Monica said the turmeric will help with bloating, the lemon juice is good for skin, and ginger will help your stomach - but the main reason you're going to feel better from this is hydration

The cure to all your hangover woes! Monica’s ‘Recovery Lemonade’ recipe

  • 24 ounces of water
  • Three tablespoons of lemon juice
  • Three tablespoons of Gourmet Garden ginger stir-in paste (you can also substitute fresh ginger)
  • One packet of Whole Earth turmeric sweetener
  • If you don’t have the Whole Earth turmeric sweetener add one teaspoon of turmeric, a couple shakes of black pepper, and one to two teaspoons of agave

After that, she put in a packet of turmeric sweetener made by the brand Whole Earth – which contain turmeric, erythritol, stevia leaf extract, black pepper, and monk fruit extract.

The packets have zero calories and zero added sugars, no preservatives, and they’re gluten free.

Unfortunately, they are currently out of stock, but they normally cost $8 for a box of 60 packets at Walmart.

‘It’s great, it sweetens it up,’ she continued, while pouring one of the packets into her drink.

‘It has turmeric in it so it’s going to help with some of that inflammation from the weekend.

‘And it has black pepper in it, you can’t taste it but that’s what helps to activate the turmeric.’

According to Monica, the turmeric will help with bloating, the lemon juice is good for your skin, and the ginger will make your stomach feel better.

She added: ‘But the biggest reason you’re going to feel better from this is hydration.’

After mixing it all together, Monica strained the drink to remove any left over pieces of ginger, and put it over ice.

In another video, Monica shared an alternative for those who couldn't get their hands on the turmeric packets - which are currently sold out

‘Love this,’ someone else said. ‘I used to work at a juice place and whenever I was hungover at work I’d grab the turmeric shot first thing.’

‘I made this today and it was so good,’ a fourth TikTok user agreed. ‘All I had was the Simply Light lemonade and I added water, ginger, turmeric, and black pepper.’

Other messages read, ‘Just drank this and it was so good,’ and, ‘I’m seriously drinking this right now.’

Some people said they hadn’t tried it just yet, but were excited to give it a shot.

‘You are the dietician I didn’t know I needed. Thanks for keeping it real. Definitely starting this tomorrow,’ one wrote.

Another gushed: ‘Wait honestly thank you. This is what I needed! I’ve been drinking a greens probiotic powder and I want to try this instead.’
