Union J’s Josh Cuthbert ‘lined-up for Celebrity Masterchef’

He shot to fame on 2012’s X Factor alongside his bandmates Union J.

And now it has been reported that singer Josh Cuthbert has set his sights on conquering the kitchen for the upcoming series of Celebrity Masterchef alongside Frankie Bridge.

According to The Sun, Frankie will join the hunky former X Factor star, who show bosses hope will attract a younger female audience to the much-loved cookery series.

TV insiders also revealed that BBC chiefs are lining the Carry You hitmaker up for an appearance on Strictly Come Dancing, following in the footsteps of Debbie McGee, who tackled both in 2017.

A source told the publication: ‘BBC casting agents thinks it’s a great shout to soft-launch Josh to viewers on a mainstream show like MasterChef ahead of a possible Strictly stint.

‘It means that house-wives will be familiar with him too as well as younger music fans. Debbie McGee did the MasterChef and Strictly double last year, and they hope he will too.’

MailOnline have contacted Frankie Bridge and Josh Cuthbert’s reps for comment. A spokesperson for Celebrity Masterchef has been approached.

The reports come a number months after Frankie, who is married to former footballer Wayne Bridge, revealed her New Year’s resolution was to learn how to cook.

Speaking to Now Magazine in January, she said: ‘I don’t normally make New Year’s resolutions because I never stick to them. But, I think in 2018, I’m finally going to learn how to cook’.

Frankie and Josh are the latest celebrities to be reportedly lined-up for the popular culinary show.

Earlier this month, TOWIE’s Gemma Collins was linked with the series after she dramatically fell through a trap door during the Radio 1 Teen Awards in October.

Despite initially launching a legal battle against the BBC, it was reported that Gemma had settled her woes with the broadcaster after she was offered to take part on Celebrity Masterchef.

According to The Sun, the 37-year-old was originally eyeing up a role on this year’s beloved ballroom stalwart Strictly with the help of her legal team but has decided to showcase her culinary skills on the cookery show instead.

A BBC spokesperson told MailOnline at the time: ‘It is nonsense to suggest that the Celebrity MasterChef line up is chosen for any other reason than individuals’ suitability as contestants and with our audience in mind.

‘We look forward to announcing this year’s line-up, which we know viewers will love.’
