Kendal Scheid, a student at the University of Akron in Ohio, pleaded guilty to involuntary manslaughter in the death of Duncan Unternaher, 23

An American college student has pleaded guilty to stabbing his roommate to death after an argument over fast food.

Kendal Scheid, a student at the University of Akron in Ohio, pleaded guilty to involuntary manslaughter in the death of Duncan Unternaher, 23.

The two friends were drunk and got into an argument over the fast foot they were eating at their apartment last December.

Family members of both young people cried during the initial court hearing, where Scheid entered a guilty plea on the lesser charge.

Scheid’s attorney called the stabbing an ‘unfortunate accident’. Unternaher and Scheid shared were roommates for two years, the attorney added.

The 23-year-old from Norwalk, Connecticut, could be locked up for 11 years when sentenced.

Attorney’s on both sides plan to argue their suggested length of sentence.

‘Kendal and his family feel Duncan’s loss every day,’ said Don Malarcik, Scheid’s attorney. ‘This was a terrible, tragic accident — and Kendal is deeply remorseful.’

According to reports, Scheid stabbed Unternaher at their apartment. Unternaher then passed out although it is unclear whether he passed out from intoxication or the wound.

A third roommate in the off-campus apartment called emergency services. The 23-year-old was taken to hospital where he died two days later.
