Madison Keys became the second American woman to reach the round of 16 at the US Open on Saturday with a comeback win over Liudmila Samsonova.

World no. 17 Keys overcame a 7-5 first set in favor of Samsonova, winning the next two sets 6-2, 6-2 to set up a date with either Jessica Pegula or Elina Svitolina.

The no. 3 seed Pegula was up a set at the time of publishing.

Keys took two hours and eight minutes to dispatch Samsonova, firing 31 winners in the effort.

The 28-year-old also won four break points, as compared with just one for Samsonova.

Meanwhile, underdog Michael Mmoh saw his career-best run at the Open come to an end on Saturday as he fell to Englishman Jack Draper, 4-6, 2-6, 6-3, 3-6.

Mmoh was beat in three hours and four minutes by Draper, who hit 52 winners to the American’s 28.

Nonetheless, it was a good showing overall for the world no. 89 Mmoh, as he beat Karen Khachanov and John Isner before bowing out.

Mmoh has reached the third round of a Grand Slam just one other time – this year’s Australian Open.
