Washington County Sheriff’s Office say he allegedly solicited several inmates to either kill or assist in coordinating the murder of a juvenile witness and victim in the case for which he is currently incarcerated.

Cops said they were made aware of the alleged murder-for-hire scheme through information gathered by deputies at the Purgatory Correctional Facility’s Corrections Intelligence Unit (CIU).

In a statement the sheriff’s office said: ‘Detectives were able to obtain evidence to substantiate the information reported by the CIU and continued their investigation into the solicitation plot.

‘With the aid of an undercover officer, sufficient evidence was gathered to support the fact that Jones had taken substantial steps from inside the correctional facility, to carry out the plot to have the juvenile victim/witness killed in an effort to prevent them from testifying in the pending criminal case against him.’

The suspect has been in jail since March when he was charged with four counts of rape of a child, one count of aggravated sex abuse of a child and three counts of sex abuse of a child, The Salt Lake Tribune reported.

An inmate told officials that Jones wanted him to ‘get rid’ of the teenager, while he was reported as saying he wanted her ‘gone, gone, gone.’

An inmate, who assisted police, told Jones that ‘he knew people on the outside that could help with something like this.’

The suspect said he would pay a sum of money to the man if killed the girl which was contained in a letter ‘with a guarantee’ on it.

A probable cause document seen by The Salt Lake Tribune states that Jones ‘drew a map of the apartment complex and the specific building and apartment’ where the victim lived.

In addition he gave detail about ‘what school the victim attended and [her] parents’ work schedule.’

He suggested the girl could die in a drive-by shooting, by hitting her with a car, or by injecting her with insulin.
