Vanessa Bryant reveals Kobe bought her blue dress from The Notebook as she shares sweet details of their romance in heartbreaking eulogy

Vanessa Bryant recalled how her late husband Kobe presented her with the blue dress from the 2004 film The Notebook in a eulogy she delivered for her late spouse on Monday in Los Angeles.

The 37-year-old’s revelation came at a Staples Center remembrance for her late husband, 41, and daughter Gianna, 13, following their deaths with seven others in a helicopter crash January 26 in nearby Calabasas.

Vanessa said she and Kobe ‘had hoped to grow old together like’ in the romantic drama that starred Rachel McAdams, Ryan Gosling, Gena Rowlands, James Garner, Sam Shepard and Joan Allen.

Vanessa recalled how Kobe had gifted her with both the dress McAdams donned in the film as Allie opposite Ryan Gosling’s Noah, in addition to the notebook used as a prop in the film of the same title.

‘When I asked him why he chose the blue dress, he said it was because it’s the scene when Allie comes back to Noah,’ she said. ‘We had hoped to grow old together like the movie. We really had an amazing love story.’

Vanessa, who was supported by daughters Natalia, 17, Bianka, three, and Capri, seven months, on the emotional day, described herself and her late spouse as ‘two perfectly imperfect people making a beautiful family and raising our sweet and amazing girls.’

She described her late daughter Gianna as ‘one of [her] very best friends’ and an ‘amazingly sweet and gentle soul.’

She said of Gianna, ‘She was daddy’s girl but I know she loved her mamma … Kobe always said she was me – she had my fire, my personality and sarcasm, but she was tender and loving on the inside.

‘She had the best laugh. It was infectious, it was pure and genuine. Kobe and Gianna naturally gravitated toward each other.’
