A farmer has stripped down and embraced the first downpour in months as the country suffers through an excruciating drought.

Despite the recent downfall in parts of New South Wales and Queensland on Saturday, the country is still in the midst of an extreme drought.  

But one farmer from regional NSW was captured in pure ecstasy as he bared all and ran into the muddied plains of his land savouring every moment of the rainfall.

The 19 second video captures the farmer naked donning his beige Acubra hat. While splashing through the shallow puddles he cheers with joy.

His hat is then whisked off in the wind and flung behind him. 

The woman behind the camera responds, ‘now that is a naked farmer’.

The video has been shared 13,000 times and amassed more than 800 comments in less than a day.

One Facebook user reference the classic McCain ad and wrote, ‘Marg, MARG!!! The rains are ‘ere!!’ another said ‘Love it. Let the rain come’.   

Other posted: ‘Bloody beautiful the rain I mean. Hope you get some more rain. Thinking of you all.’  

Residents of Australia’s hardest hit areas have been experimenting with rain dances in a desperate bid to wet the ground.

Some Australians were experiencing their first drops of rain in more than a year, according to the ABC.

Bureau of Meteorology forecaster Gabrielle Woodhouse said after the thunderstorms on Saturday night, the showers would start to ease on Sunday.
