The pet black headed python accidentally swallowed a pillow case, which the veterinary surgeons slowly pulled from the reptile.

‘It doesn’t take long for accidents like these to happen,’ Herp Vet wrote on their Facebook page.

‘I have seen it with everything from plastic plants to paper towels.’

The ‘standard pillowcase’ label can be seen on the fabric, making it quite a large object in comparison to the size of the snake.

Snakes coil around their food before ingesting it where the pillow case got caught up in its meal.

Owner of the two-and-a-half year old snake, Cassie, told News Corp she first put him in the pillowcase as a hiding spot in a temporary enclosure while she was moving house.

However, the ‘Labrador of the snake world’ got his frozen rat caught with the pillow case, leaving him with six stitches and medication.
