Veteran journalist Mike Willesee has died aged 76 after losing his battle with throat cancer.
The iconic broadcaster was considered one of the best interviewers of his era during a 50-year career working for the ABC, the Nine network and the Seven network.
He was diagnosed with throat cancer in late 2016 and completed radiation therapy the year after.

The father-of-six, who had three divorces, cited his faith and his family as instrumental is helping him through the pain.
His death was announced on the radio today after presenters were informed by those close to him.
Willesee was born in Perth in 1942 and made his first appearance on TV in 1967 as a reporter for the ABC show This Day Tonight.
In 1969 he became host of ABC show Four Corners before switching to the Nine Network in 1971 to host A Current Affair.
He then spent several years at the Seven Network where he presented a current affairs show titled Willesee at Seven.
Willesee’s most memorable moment came in days before the 1993 Federal Election when he interviewed Liberal Party leader John Hewson.
