Victoria Beckham admits she feared for the state of her marriage before 20th anniversary

Victoria Beckham has admitted she was worried she and husband David Beckham would have nothing to talk about when they celebrated their 20th anniversary in July with a romantic trip to Paris.

The fashion designer, 45, and her other half, 44, shared a glimpse at their excursion on Instagram with a series of breathtaking snaps from the Palace of Versailles.

But Victoria told The Telegraph Magazine she wasn’t sure how much the couple would have to say to each other when they were without the company of their four children for the first time in a while.

Honest: Victoria Beckham, 45, has admitted she was worried she and husband David Beckham, 44, would have nothing to talk about when they celebrated their 20th anniversary

She said: ‘I said to David, “God, what will we have to say to each other when it’s just us?” But we talked and laughed the whole time, and not even about the kids or work.

The former Spice Girl also added that the couple share a good sense of humour and as such will be fine when they’re children have all moved out.

‘He’s better at sending me up. But hey, what a relief – we’ll be OK, even when they’ve left all left home.’

The pair looked every inch the happy couple in the snaps they shared from their Parisian trip.

Victoria hearkened back to their nuptials with her bridal-esque white satin dress, David was suited and booted for the occasion.

Revealing that they were given a private tour of the palace gardens, Victoria captioned her snap: ‘A private tour, dream come true!! Nous avons eu le privilège de vivre un moment magique au Château de Versailles. X Kisses.’

The post translates to read: ‘We had the privilege of experiencing a magical moment at the Château de Versailles.

The Beckhams famously married in a spectacular ceremony in 1999, costing a reported £800,000 in which they both donned bold ensembles. Images from the big day featured in an OK! spread and front cover story.

Their marriage came when David had just won the treble with Manchester United and Victoria was a global icon with the Spice Girls.

In 2017, Victoria wrote a letter to her 18-year-old self back for Vogue last year, offering marriage tips. She wrote: ‘In marriage: have patience. Bite your tongue. Be supportive. And preserve a bit of mystique.

‘Never let yourself go completely (at least brush your hair, clean your teeth, have a bit of a brow going on because you will always want him to look at you and feel attracted).’

In 2010, David spoke to Hello! about how they keep their relationship alive, with David saying they ‘have a date night every Wednesday.

Victoria added: ‘We catch up on what we’ve missed on TV. We watch Keeping Up With The Kardashians. We’re soulmates. Sometimes people throw s*** at us but we get through it…

‘You deal with it, or you don’t.’You go into a marriage knowing there are going to be ups and downs. We’re in the public eye so we have more to deal with than most. We accepted that years ago. It’s just about us and the family.’

In 1996 — when Victoria was the more famous of the two, thanks to her role in chart-topping girl band the Spice Girls — young Manchester United footballer David, knew she was the one for him before they even met.

Then known to her legions of fans as Posh Spice, Victoria admitted that nobody even wanted to date her before she was eventually introduced to David in 1997 — at his request — after his team’s charity football match.

Speaking in 2012, the mother-of-four told Spice Girls’ Story: Viva Forever: ‘There was a stage where someone wrote once how every woman wanted to be one of us and every man wanted to date one of us. Not that anyone wanted to date me. I think everyone wanted to sort of like just brush my hair.’

For prolific sportsman David, there was no question that she was the one he wanted to be with — and he even dreamed of the day he would marry the singer as he watched her writhe around in the video for her group’s hit single Say You’ll Be There.

‘That’s the girl for me and I’m going to get her!’ David told The Sun of a conversation he had with a pal as he watched the star strut her stuff onscreen. ‘She’s my idea of perfection. I knew that if she wanted me, we would be together forever.’
