VIDEO EXCLUSIVE: The shocking moment Chris Hughes ATTACKED photographer

A new video has emerged showing the explosive moment ‘drunk’ Chris Hughes brutally attacked a photographer after the National Television Awards on Tuesday night.

The former Love Island star, 27, was seen to launch a shocking attack after he was called ‘a c**t’, when the photographer in question failed to capture a shot of Chris with his girlfriend Jesy Nelson, 28, leading to Chris’ expletive-laden tirade and a subsequent and ongoing police investigation.

In his alarming rant, Chris – formerly a farmer from Gloucestershire before finding fame on the ITV2 show in 2017 – insists: ‘I’m a nice guy from the Cotswolds. I’m not a p***y, I’m not gonna bow down. I’m not a c**t’, in the scenes which followed on from a reported row with Jesy over a ban on the duo doing press as a couple.

Chris caused a media storm on Wednesday when images emerged showing his attack on the photographer before tense shots later came to light, in which he seemed to be arguing with Jesy, who had walked away victorious with a gong for Best Factual Programme for her critically-acclaimed documentary Odd One Out.

In new video obtained exclusively by MailOnline, the reality star hits out at the photographer while emerging from the lobby of the InterContinental Hotel, near the O2 Arena where the awards were held.

Although it is hard to gauge the initial slur in the recording, Chris kicks off the violent altercation after he was alleged to have been called ‘a c**t’ – in a move which seemed to strike an alarming chord with the star.

He said: ‘Why am I a c**t? You don’t know me. Tell me. You have no right. F**k this, you don’t know me. You don’t know me. Don’t call someone a c**t you don’t know. You don’t know me, why am I?…

I’m a nice guy from the Cotswolds. I’m a nice guy. Bruv I’m a nice guy. So why are you calling me a c**t? It’s not fair. I’m no different to this man!

I’m no different to these girls! So why am I that guy? I’m not a c**t bruv. Why am I a c**t. I’m not a pussy, I’m not gonna bow down. I’m not a c**t. I’m not an a**ehole I don’t need to be called an a**ehole.

 I’m a nice guy, I’ve always been a nice guy, don’t give me s**t. Just f* *k off. I don’t f**king want you here. I’m not a f**king c**t. I always f**king have been and I always be here. I’m like everyone here.

Intervening in the fight, Chris’ manager Chris Drake attempts to restrain the star.

The talent agent is a former TOWIE star, having appeared on the show as Mario Falcone’s best pal in 2012, for six series.

When the photographer utters: ‘Call the police then! F**k off my camera!’, Chris Drake is heard to say: ‘They shouldn’t let scum like that around… It’s self-defense’.

Chris’ now-repetitive tangent continues: ‘I’m a nice guy, I’ve always been a nice guy, don’t give me s**t. Just f* *k off. I don’t f**king want you here.

‘I’m not a f**king c**t. I always f**king have been and I always be here. I’m like everyone here’, shortly before Jesy is seen to run away.

The reality star was then bundled into a cab while a member of Jesy’s team says to fellow paparazzi: ‘Sorry guys. He’s drunk, leave him, leave him’.

Since the row, it has been claimed that his rage stemmed from fury regarding a ban on him doing press with Jesy in a bid to protect her image.

Following the release of the Little Mix star’s anti-trolling documentary last year, her star has been further on the rise.

The morning after the fracas, Chris took to social media to apologise to his girlfriend and admitted the night ‘should have been about her’ and not the scrape.

He wrote on social media: ‘I want to address last night’s altercation. I was having an amazing night celebrating the award my girlfriend deservedly won…

‘After coming out of our hotel a particular paparazzi decided to repeatedly call me a name I wouldn’t call my worst enemy, and physically try and start an altercation. As everyone can see I retaliated back badly – which I regret…

‘I’m human. No different to anyone else’s however I want to make everyone aware this was only in self defense. I hope people I care about including my followers, family and friends can understand and forgive me.

‘This night was about Jesy’s win and I am sorry if I distracted anyone from this. Ultimately, I’m the proudest boyfriend ever and want to congratulate my amazing girlfriend for a deserving win. I am proud of you.’

Shortly before he released his statement, it was revealed that a police investigation has been launched.

A Met Police spokesman told MailOnline: ‘We can confirm that at 03:52hrs on Wednesday, 29 January, police received a report of assault and criminal damage following an altercation between two men at Waterview Drive, Greenwich…

‘The incident is reported to have taken place at a time between 23:00hrs on Tuesday, 28 January and 01:00hrs on Wednesday, 29 January. The reported criminal damage relates to photographic equipment. There were no reported injuries. There have been no arrests. Enquiries continue.’

The photographer involved told MailOnline his account of the altercation, explaining: ‘I am a freelance photographer so I only earn money depending on what pictures I sell – I really wanted a picture a Chris and Jesy together.’

‘However, they exited the hotel separately and I was disappointed as a picture of Chris on his own doesn’t really sell. I’m sorry for the language, but I said: ‘that’s a c***’ under my breath.

‘I was referring to the situation and not to Chris. He took it the wrong way and flipped his lid. He came for me with punches and kicks. I walked away but he came back three or four times. He kept coming at me. He caused damage to my £1k camera which he kicked twice. It’s now in the hands of the police.’

Chris’ ex and fellow Love Island star Olivia Attwood appeared to mock his violent brawl at the National Television Awards on social media, two years after the former couple had their own spat at the event.

Olivia, 28, wrote on Twitter: ‘Lol déjà vu..’ with fans speculating she was making a dig at her ex. Back in January 2018, Chris and Olivia rowed at the National Television Awards, with the blonde blaming Chris’ excessive drinking.

Speaking about the recent row, Olivia told New Magazine: ‘Chris was upset that he didn’t see much of me in the evening but I was chatting to new people and taking in the night, so when he saw me he started shouting. I don’t think he is a good drinker!’
