Universal Orlando Resort has released brand new pictures and video of its Hagrid’s Magical Creatures Motorbike Adventure roller coaster ahead of the ride’s June 13 launch.
The footage reveals how thrill-seeking Harry Potter fans will board ‘magical motorcyles’ and adjacent sidecars before rapidly accelerating through mysterious ruins and over the Forbidden Forest as ‘they search for the wizarding world’s rarest magical creatures’.
The attraction will see riders unexpectedly plunge almost 17 feet at one point and it is the first roller coaster in the U.S. to feature a free-fall vertical drop.

It also boasts the most ‘launches’ of any roller coaster in the world – with riders quickly propelled at high speed seven times as they move along the track.
At one point passengers are catapulted 65 feet in the air at more than 70 degrees, before immediately dropping backwards again.
Serving as a further draw to park-goers, Hagrid’s Magical Creatures Motorbike Adventure will be the longest roller coaster in Florida, measuring 5,053 feet in length.
Before taking off on a journey through the Forbidden Forest, guests will enter ruins that appear to have been abandoned for centuries behind Hagrid’s hut.

As they make their way to their enchanted motorbikes, guests will see spell books, dragon eggs on the verge of hatching and a makeshift nursery – all materials from their Care of Magical Creatures class
The ruins were imagined and brought to life by Universal’s award-winning creative team in collaboration with the Harry Potter films’ production designer, Stuart Craig, and art director, Alan Gilmore.
Hagrid now uses the ruins for groundskeeping at Hogwarts and this is where guests’ Care of Magical Creatures class will begin.
As they make their way to their enchanted motorbikes – based on the vehicle seen in the film Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part One – guests will see materials from the class, including spellbooks, dragon eggs on the verge of hatching and a makeshift nursery.
Last month we unveiled some of the life-like creatures that will feature as part of the highly-anticipated Hagrid attraction.

One of them, the Blast-Ended Skrewt, is a creature created by Hagrid, which is described a cross between a giant scorpion and an elongated crab.
It has never been seen before in any of the Harry Potter movies, only mentioned in the books, and it will be brought to life for the first time for the ride.
Other characters set to greet guests as they explore the spellbinding surroundings include a majestic Centaur, mischievous Cornish pixies, and Fluffy, the three-headed dog.
The new Harry Potter ride will be in The Wizarding World of Harry Potter – Hogsmeade, which is in the resort’s Islands of Adventure park.

It opened to great fanfare in 2010 and is based on J K Rowling’s series of fantasy novels.
The Wizarding World of Harry Potter also includes a replica of Diagon Alley – the shopping district for wizards, which opened in 2014.
It is located in the nearby Universal Studios park.
To travel between Hogsmeade Village and Diagon Alley, fans of the movie series can catch a ride on a replica of the Hogwarts Express train.
