Video of Lori Vallow’s ex-husband Charles urging police to help

New video has emerged of Lori Vallow’s estranged husband, Charles, trying to get her help six months before he was killed and more than a year before the bodies of her children, Joshua ‘JJ’ Vallow and Tylee Ryan, were found.

Gilbert Police released bodycam footage on Thursday after officers met Charles at a hotel in Gilbert, Arizona, in January 2019, in which he called for Lori to be mentally evaluated.

Charles is seen telling police that his estranged wife believes she’s a prophet and that somebody else is possessing his body.

‘[She says] she knows then the second coming [of Jesus Christ] is happening,’ he says on the video.

‘I’ve tried to support her as much as I could, but it’s gotten really really bad lately. She’s had a break.’

Last week, the remains of Tylee, 17, and JJ, seven, were discovered buried in the backyard of Lori’s husband, Chad Daybell, at his home in Salem, Idaho.

The video is the second time that Charles had spoken to Gilbert Police that day.

Early in the morning, he called officers to the home he and Lori shared. He then went to a hotel where he thought she might be staying.

Charles was trying to find Lori to serve her with a petition to have her involuntarily committed at Community Bridges.

He told police he was scared that her religious beliefs had become radical and that he feared for his children’s lives and his own.

‘I want her to get help. She’s my wife, love her to death but something’s going on,’ Charles says.

‘She needs help. She needs some serious help. I want her to get help. I’m worried about her. I don’t think we’ll survive this, but she needs help. ‘

Police records show that, later that day, Lori spoke to officers and claimed she wanted Charles out of their home due to allegations of cheating.

Six months later, in July 2019, Charles was fatally shot in Phoenix by Lori’s brother, Alexander Cox.

Cox claimed he killed Charles in self-defense, which police accepted at the time.

Lori moved her children, Tylee and JJ, to Idaho in September to be with Daybell.

Tylee was last seen on September 8 in Yellowstone National Park, along with Lori, JJ and Cox.

JJ was last seen a few weeks later, on September 23, at his new school, Kennedy Elementary in Rexburg, Idaho.

Lori married Daybell in Hawaii in November 2019, two weeks after Daybell’s wife, Tammy, died of alleged natural causes.

For months, Lori refused to say where her children were or lied, claiming that JJ was staying with relatives or that Tylee was away at college.

In February 2020, she was arrested in Kauai and charged with two felony counts of desertion and nonsupport of dependent children.

On June 9, human remains were found on Daybell’s property and he was arrested later that day. The remains were later confirmed to be Tylee and JJ.

Daybell has been charged with two felony counts of concealment or destruction of evidence and entered a not guilty plea to both on Monday

Police are now facing mounting questions over why it took so long to find the children in a location that they had already searched six months prior in January.

Daybell is currently being held on $1million bond at Fremont County Jail while Lori is at the neighboring Madison County Jail on the same bond.

The pair both have preliminary hearings in July.
