A little more than a year after rising baseball star Danry Vasquez was arrested for beating his girlfriend Fabiana Perez in a shocking attack caught on surveillance footage, the 24-year-old Venezuelan got down on one knee and proposed to the same woman.

She said yes.

On Thursday, DailyMail.com uncovered video of Vasquez’s proposal to Fabiana, which took place on a beach in his home country in November.

The video shows the outfielder carry his girlfriend off a boat and up onto the beach.

When she takes off her blindfold, she finds herself standing in front of giant letters set up on the sand that read ‘Will you marry me?’ in Spanish.

She then turns around and sees Vasquez down on one knee, a ring in his hand.

Fabiana doubles over and starts to cry before getting up, shaking her head ‘yes’ and accepting the ring.

The two then kiss and pose for pictures in front of their gathered family and friends.

The man who posted the video on Facebook four months ago wrote in Spanish that Vasquez was playing baseball for a Venezuelan team at the time, and that Fabiana had come down to visit him.

She knew she was being taken to a beach, but had no idea that he planned to propose.

Danry was arrested in August 2016, when he was caught on surveillance footage beating Fabiana up in a stairwell of Houston’s Whataburger field, where he was playing for a Houston Astros feeder team.

He was subsequently released from the team but had the charges dropped when he agreed to pay a fine and take classes.

In January, it looked like his career was on the mend when he was signed by the Lancaster Barnstormers, a team in the Atlantic League of Professional Baseball.

But on Monday, video of the 2016 attack surfaced, and he was let go by the team.

The video is horrific, showing Vasquez repeatedly striking Fabiana and pulling her hair.

TMZ reported Thursday that Fabiana stayed by his side after the attack, pleading with prosecutors not to pursue charges, insisting it was an isolated incident.

Danry’s attorney told the outlet: ‘I recall conversations about the extreme stress he was under and the pressures to perform that he was young. Came to USA at a young age with no parents (accommodating him) and no guidance … just his dreams. She never excused his behavior just loved him enough to believe they could move forward.’

The couple has allegedly been dating since they were teens, meeting in Fabiana’s home country of Mexico while Danry was playing baseball there.

Vasquez was once a potential star. He signed a contract with a $1.2 million signing bonus with the Detroit Tigers when he was 16 years old before being traded to the Astros.
