Shocking video has been emerged of a brawl at a McDonald’s restaurant involving two groups of youths.

In footage captured on Thursday, high school students can be seen exchanging punches and throwing drinks.

The brawl reportedly broke out when one group of teens walked into the McDonald’s in Newcastle, NSW, and approached the other.

Up to a dozen teens were involved in the fight, which took place in front of shocked patrons and families.

Police are investigating the incident and have requested the footage as part of their investigation.

A second video filmed from a car in the drive-thru show the youths yelling and pointing at each other before one throws what looks to be a thickshake over the counter and into the seating area.

Some of the teens are seen shoving each other behind the counter of the store, with one girl even standing on the bench at one point.

The footage has been viewed more than 70,000 times.

‘This is just ridiculous. On both the workers and the customers. First of all the people shouldn’t have been allowed behind the counter. That’s obvious… They should have told them to get out, they were putting the workers at risk and it’s a violation of the safety codes,’ one viewer wrote. 

‘You don’t think they tried?’ the user who posted the video replied.
