Baltimore County police say the shots were fired by a smaller group of men who were not there for the service just after 12.30pm Wednesday.

They said ‘mourners began running in all directions seeking cover’ from the shooting before first responders were called to the scene.

Brown and one other man suffered gunshot wounds and were transported to the hospital, where the 32-year-old was pronounced dead and the other victim was said to be in ‘grave condition’.

A third victim who was not shot was also transported to the hospital after suffering from chest pains, officials say.

The incident is still under investigation, and police said in a news release that it is believed to have been a ‘targeted crime’.

‘We believe there were at least two guns that were involved, we believe there were two shooters,’ police spokeswoman Jennifer Peach told WJZ.

The deceased’s brother Marcus Brown had been reportedly shot and killed just a few miles away in Sandtown-Winchester on August 25.
