New Yorkers are demanding answers after shocking video appeared to show an unmarked police car designed to look like a city yellow taxi. 

The clip was shared by Twitter user @dertyduchess, early on Tuesday morning, and showed a man getting apprehended and placed inside the patrol car. 

According to the user, the man was detained by authorities ‘from his car’ who then ‘took his keys and drove off.’ 

The video has been viewed more than 2million times.

The New York Police Department could not be reached for a comment. 

In the brief footage, the user narrates seeing the cop car. The high end car clearly is different from the usual cab models seen going across the city.

At one point, the Twitter user calls the officers as the ‘Federales’ – a term used to describe federal agents in Mexico. 

Officers tell bystanders filming the scene to go home as they take the man away. 

It is unknown what charges the man was met with, if any. 

New York City is currently under a 8pm curfew as protesters clash with police across the city.
