A mother and daughter dining at a California mall food court over the weekend were left shocked and disgusted after noticing what looked like rodent feces dropping from the ceiling onto their plates.

Meeyoung Choi, of Culver City, recorded stomach-turning cellphone video showing small black pebbles landing on her table in the Westfield Culver City Mall at lunchtime on Saturday.

‘I was shocked. I was disgusted. I was disturbed,’ Choi, who did not wish to show her face on camera, told CBS Los Angeles. ‘Middle of our meal, we started to feel something on our head, and we heard things dropping on our table.’

‘Two small black dots landed right on top of my mom’s cup and instantly she realized it was rodents’ fecal matter,’ Choi recounted.

Choi said when she summoned mall security for help, they were slow to assist her, even after she noted that there were cracks in the ceiling and that it appeared to be moving, possibly indicating the presence of live pests.

The customer admitted, however, that she did not see any rats or mice at the mall.

On Monday, Choi said a manager at the mall called her to apologize and offer her a gift card worth $25 to be used at the mall, but the woman said she felt insulted by the gesture because she has no interest in going back.

Choi told KTLA5 she wants the shopping center to cover her and her mother’s medical bills the two racked up by getting checkups to make sure they did not contract an illness from coming in contact with suspected rodent waste.

The mall has released a statement to local news outlets saying it has launched an internal investigation into the customer’s complaint.

‘We take sanitary issues very seriously and are still very surprised about this claim,’ the statement read.

DailyMail.com on Tuesday reached out to the corporate owner of the Culver City mall for a comment.
