Viewers left horrified and unable to finish horror offbeat movie Rosemary’s Baby amid film comeback

‘It’s even more disturbing now!’ Fans admit they’re unable to finish Roman Polanski’s gothic horror Rosemary’s Baby after its surprise social media resurgence

Viewers were left horrified and unable to finish the iconic gothic horror cult Rosemary’s Baby – as the movie makes a huge comeback across social media.

The 1968’s offbeat cult film directed by disgraced director Roman Polanski was ranked by Forbes as the second best classic horror of all time, right after Hitchcock’s Psycho.

Mia Farrow stars as Rosemary Woodhouse, a young mother who is forced to give birth to the son of the devil – after being abused, drugged and tortured by a Satanic cult, who will eventually try to steal her baby.

As the freaky movie made a significant revival recently, people took to social media to comment on how disturbing the movie is.

A user wrote on Twitter: ‘To this day, I cannot watch Rosemary’s Baby. It freaks me out way too much.’

‘Rosemary’s Baby. Just disturbing,’ said another one.

Another user added: ‘Rosemary’s Baby, even more disturbing now.’

Another user joined the conversation and wrote: ‘Yep Rosemary’s baby is still a very disturbing film, After seeing it again I can see Ari Aster used it as the inspiration for Hereditary, maby it’s just the Satan stuff in general I find creepy.’

Despite the magic spells and witchcraft elements, is the frightening portray of reality that makes Polanski’s horror cult so appalling to viewers, still nowadays.

The offbeat movie made a resurgence during a time where abortion rights are at the centre of social debate – as it portrays the grim reality of forced pregnancy.

Mia Farrow impressively illustrates the emotional distress and complexity as she is manipulated and abused by her husband Guy – played by John Cassavetes – and the rest of the cult, while being pregnant.

The actress perfectly brings to life the character of an isolated woman under constant siege – which is what makes the horror movie dreadfully real.

Forbes described the film’s ‘depiction of paranoia and the occult’ a game-changing element in the history of the horror genre, with several modern horror directors ‘looking at Rosemary’s Baby as inspiration.’

Fans of the movie recalled the awkward moment back in 2018 when Kate Middleton wore a remarkably similar red dress to the iconic gown Mia Farrow wore in the movie – as she stepped out of the Lindo Wing with little Prince Louis.

One user commented: ‘Kate Middleton rocking the same dress as Rosemary from Rosemary’s Baby is definitely not discomforting at all…’

As if that wasn’t unsettling enough, the very similar red dress featuring an embroidered white collar was wore in a scene in which Rosemary feels her baby moving inside her for the first time after difficulties in her early pregnancy.
