A vile stepfather who molested his 13-year-old stepdaughter and spied on her in the shower has been jailed.

The man, who lives in Toowoomba in south Queensland, was aged 39 to 44 when he repeatedly walked in on his stepdaughter while she showered, took photos and videos of her on his phone and tried to touch her.

He also tried to kiss her on the lips as she slept in her bed, exposed his genitals and made rude suggestions, The Chronicle reports.

She was aged between 13 and 15 at the time.

During the two day trial, the jury had heard from the girl complainant as well as her younger step-sister who claimed to have heard the man in the family bathroom while the girl was showering.

‘It was a gross breach of trust and parental duties,’ Crown prosecutor Cameron Wilkins said during sentencing submissions.

The jury at Toowoomba District Court delivered guilty verdicts on all four charges which included three counts of indecent treatment of a child under 16 under his care.

Judge Nathan Jarro slammed the man, now 46, saying the trial had forced the victim to give evidence.

He added that the man had shown no remorse for his actions.

The step-father was sentenced to 18 months jail, suspended after he had served nine months with the remainder of the sentence to remain over his head for three years.
