Vin Diesel battles John Cena in explosive new trailer for the latest Fast & Furious installment F9

The COVID-19 pandemic pushed back the release of F9 – the final Fast & Furious film – by more than one year, but the latest explosive trailer suggests it will be more than worth the wait.

Vin Diesel is back to battle for, and against, his family in the long-running franchise’s ninth instalment, while John Cena makes his debut as Dominic Toretto’s long-lost brother.

Fans are also treated to Oscar winning royalty courtesy of British star Helen Mirren, who makes her Fast & Furious debut as Magdalene “Queenie” Shaw, while Charlize Theron makes a welcome return as Cipher.

Elsewhere former Game Of Thrones star Nathalie Emmanuel is back for her third outing as Megan Ramsey, whose inability to drive becomes something of a hindrance.

Too fast: Vin Diesel is back to battle for — and against — his family as John Cena makes his debut as Dominic Toretto’s long-lost brother in an explosive new trailer for F9 released on Wednesday morning

After their last big adventure, fast cars have been replaced by family barbecues and cold beers as Dom submits to a domesticated life with Letty Ortiz, played by Michelle Rodriguez, and their son Brian.

But he is soon back in action following a visit from some old friends, notably Tyrese Gibson’s long serving character Roman Pearce and mechanic Tej Parker, played by Chris ‘Ludacris’ Bridges.

‘The world has a way of changing, and we change too,’ Dom insists as the teaser unfolds. ‘There are moments that separate us, but we always come back together.’

The group are back together again to fight evil in the form of Dom’s long-lost brother Jakob, played by John Cena, but there’s still plenty of time to reminisce about their past escapades.

'You always say never turn your back on family, but you turned your back on me,' he told Dom. 'Now your little family is in my world'
