A husband who regularly beat his wife, urinated on her duvet while she was in bed and stubbed cigarettes out on her body has today been jailed for two and a half years.
Ryan Booth, from Grimsby, forbade his wife to have friends or go out while he regularly kicked, punched and headbutted her.
The judge said Booth subjected his wife to a ‘campaign’ of abuse in what was ‘one of the worst’ domestic violence cases he had ever seen.
As he jailed the 38-year-old for two and a half years, Judge John Thackray QC said Booth had ‘very disturbing attitudes to women’ and represents a ‘high risk of harm to future partners’.
Booth admitted using controlling or coercive behaviour between August 2017 and November 2018. He also admitted assaulting her, causing actual bodily harm.
Jeremy Evans, prosecuting, told Grimsby Crown Court that Booth married his wife in 2017 but there were problems with his jealousy and violent behaviour.
He assaulted her every week by beating her, grabbing her throat and spitting at her as well as threatening to set fire to the family home.

At a New Year’s Eve party, he flew into a rage after believing his wife was flirting with other people and when they returned to their hotel room, he assaulted her and stubbed a cigarette out on her leg.
She said she was put under pressure to be intimate with him and, if she was not, he would ‘flare up again.’
Mr Evans said: ‘Her mother saw her with injuries that she was suspicious about. His wife was ‘totally petrified’ of Booth and he did not allow her to have friends.’
Booth also made a false complaint to police and sent messages including ‘Hope you die a slow and painful death, you overgrown hippo’, while warning her: ‘I know where you live.’
Mr Evans said the victim was ‘constantly concerned for her safety, particularly at night.’
As he jailed him, the judge told Booth: ‘For over a year, you made the life of your victim a misery.
‘You repeatedly terrified her and the effects will no doubt be long-lasting. You have very disturbing attitudes to women and, in particular, partners.

‘Domestic violence was more serious because the victim was vulnerable and there was a breach of trust.
‘You represent a high risk of harm to future partners. The messages you sent reveal how nasty you can be. It’s difficult to think of a more serious case of its kind.
‘This is akin to a campaign of violence.’
Andrew Bailey, mitigating, said Booth could not remember some of the incidents because of the amount he had drunk. He added: ‘Many of these threats were not, in fact, carried out.’
Booth was jailed for two-and-a-half years and was given an indefinite restraining order.
