Triple M radio host Mick Molloy did not hold back on Thursday when he slammed the very expensive food and drinks at Vivid Sydney.

Speaking on his Mick and MG breakfast show, Molloy, 57, echoed several fellow festival-goers when he said he was ‘disgusted’ by the high prices.

‘Sydneysiders have express their disgust and outrage over an $8.50 sausage sizzle at Vivid. That is bloody un-Australian,’ Mick began.

‘$8.50 for a sausage sizzle, that’s twice the price of a democracy sausage! I know there’s cost-of-living pressures… but that for a sausage in a piece of bread.

‘Come on Vivid, get your act together!’ he added.

Mick was also outraged that a nearby pub was charging $16.50 for a jug of soda water.

‘Cut it out! That would have cost them three cents,’ he exclaimed.

Molloy’s furious rant follows reports that festival-goers at Vivid Sydney were left shocked over the ‘ridiculous’ price being charged for a simple sausage sizzle.

The event, known for its dazzling light displays, returned to Sydney on May 24.

However many attendees were left stunned at a food vendor charging $8.50 for a sausage with onions in bread.

One frustrated attendee shared a photo of the vendor’s price list to Reddit, commenting: ‘Can we please talk about the price of a sausage in bread?

‘I don’t care what the reason is – $8.50 is disgusting.’

‘I’d maybe fork out $5 if I was hungry, but I’d never be hungry enough to spend $8.50 for a sausage on a roll,’ a second added.

In Australia, a typical sausage in bread usually costs between $2.00 and $4.00 at community events, fundraisers, or local markets.

This means the sausage sizzle at Vivid, priced at $8.50, is over 325 per cent more expensive than the standard $2 sausage sizzle found at fundraisers.

Vivid has been contacted for comment.
