WHAT CAR WAS THE SPEED DEMON DRIVING?

Student’s car is understood to be a Lapiz blue 2022 Volkswagen Golf R.

Turbocharged vehicle can jump from 0 to 100km/h in just 4.6 seconds.

Model features a powerful 2.0-litre four-cylinder turbo petrol engine.

The VW Golf Type R has 235KW of power which put to the road via the all-wheel-drive system allows the car to comfortably reach 280Km/h.

Superintendent Joseph Thone, Southern Commander of the NSW highway patrol, said it was the highest speed ever recorded on that stretch of road.

‘That is a ridiculous speed to travelling. Things happen so fast you would have no time to react,’ he told the Daily Telegraph.

‘If you want to kill someone else that is up to you but he could easily have wiped out a family.’

The student was issued with a Court Attendance Notice for drive speed/manner dangerous and is due to appear in Moss Vale Local Court on December 20.

His driving privileges have been withdrawn.

It is understood the student had been behind the wheel of a 2022 Volkswagen Golf R which can jump from 0 to 100km/h in just four seconds.

The car, which retails for about $66,990, features a 2.0-litre four-cylinder turbo petrol engine that rivals similar models from Audi and Mercedes.
