Tasmania struck early trouble on day one of their Sheffield Shield match against Western Australia’s inexperienced attack in Hobart.
The home side limped to 3-78, having been reduced to 3-51 at one stage.
The in-form Jake Doran and wicketkeeper-batsman Matthew Wade are currently at the crease on 13 and 10 respectively.
Openers Beau Webster (8) and Alex Doolan (12) were both dismissed early on by Andrew Holder (2-19).
Tigers’ captain George Bailey (10) was the next to go dismissed by paceman Simon Mackin amid cool and breezy conditions at Bellerive Oval.
Third-placed WA are fresh from knocking over leaders NSW last weekend, and another victory would see them edge closer to a Shield final berth with three rounds remaining.
