Wales fans SLAM decision to show Harry Wilson a red card in Danish thumping

‘This is hilarious, a red card?’: Wales fans SLAM decision to send Harry Wilson off in Danish thumping… as supporters ask ‘where was VAR?’

Harry Wilson’s sending-off has been met with furious backlash after the Liverpool winger was shown a straight red in injury-time of their Denmark drubbing.

Gareth Bale and Co went crashing out of Euro 2020 on Saturday, being overwhelmed by the emotionally-charged Danes in a 4-0 defeat.

The referee added insult to injury in added time, with Wilson seeing red after lunging in late on Joakim Maehle from behind.

Harry Wilson’s red card in injury time poured salt on Wales’ wound as they fell out of Euro 2020

Wales were already buried at that stage, but Martin Braithwaite was able to add the fourth against the 10-men.

Bale and his team-mates reacted furiously, with the Real Madrid winger booked himself in injury-time for sarcastically applauding the referee following his decision.

It wasn’t the only moment Wales fans were disappointed with the referee on Saturday, and they took to Twitter to vent their frustrations.

‘How the hell is VAR not even checking that red card,’ @Carter_QPR wrote, while @txnnya added ‘never a red card that’.

@Danni020716 was also frustrated: ‘This is turning out hilarious, a red card! What the f***.’

Wales had scraped through their group but impressed in their victory over Turkey and 1-1 draw with Switzerland.

It was a disappointing performance on the big day though, falling far short of their best. Denmark progress to the quarter-final instead.
