Walmart’s controversial ‘Cocaine Santa’ sweater becomes an Amazon bestseller

Days after Walmart pulled a controversial sweater featuring a cartoon Santa Claus doing cocaine with the tagline ‘Let It Snow’ from its website, the infamous novelty item has now become a best-selling item on Amazon.

The supermarket chain faced a swell of backlash earlier this week when the holiday-themed crew neck sweater – which shows Santa holding a straw in front of three lines of what appears to be cocaine – was listed for sale on its website in Canada.

Soon after, Walmart apologized and pulled the sweater from its site along with many others like it that also depicted the festive figure in uncompromising and sometimes sexually-suggestive positions.

The retail giant acknowledged through a spokesperson that the sweaters ‘do not represent Walmart’s values’ and blamed a third party seller for why they ended up online.

Amusingly listed as being ‘perfect for cozy days with your family!’, the $31.99 sweatshirt has also been receiving plenty of glowing five-star reviews

However, clothing with identical designs remain available for sale on Amazon, and the ‘Let It Snow’ sweater has even become to No.1 best-selling item in the Women’s Novelty Sweatshirt category, as of Thursday.

Amusingly listed as being ‘perfect for cozy days with your family!’, the $31.99 sweatshirt has also been receiving plenty of glowing five-star reviews.

‘Nothing says ‘Christmas’ like Santa Snooters,’ one delighted customer quipped in a review.

One customer even re-posted Walmart’s needlessly overt product description from their original online listing.

‘We all know how snow works,’ the original description read. ‘It’s white, powdery and the best snow comes straight from South America.

‘That’s bad news for jolly old St. Nick, who lives far away in the North Pole. That’s why Santa really likes to savor the moment when he gets his hands on some quality, grade A, Colombian snow.’

However, unlike the sweater available once available on Walmart’s Canadian website, the one listed on Amazon says it ‘ships from and [is] sold by Amazon.com.’

In other words, though the product is designed by a third-party, Amazon takes responsibility for selling and shipping the products.

Amazon has not yet responded to a DailyMail.com request for comment.

Demand for the jumper has continued to snowball in the days since news of its existence went viral. Hoping to profit off the news cycle, more than 200 hundred other sellers have listed ‘cocaine Santa’ items for sale.

One seller, named ‘Cocaine Santa Shirt Designs’, even began selling an entire set of apparel around the concept, with more than 70 options for sale.

In addition to shirts that appear to show Santa Claus doing cocaine, the seller also offers cocaine-themed shirts featuring President Donald Trump and Sen. Mitch McConnell dressed as Santa.

Jason John, who goes by the handle @HurrbaSousJohn, flagged the Santa ‘snow’ sweater on Twitter over the weekend.

‘Yall. Look at this description for this Christmas sweater,’ he wrote in a post that includes a screen capture of the sweater’s page on Walmart’s Canadian website.

The ‘exclusive’ holiday garb which is simply supposed to be ugly goes much further with cringe-worthy language in the description that says Santa is calling for ‘a Colombian snow’, and that ‘he packs it in perfect lines on his coffee table and then takes a big whiff to smell the high quality aroma of the snow’.

‘It’s exactly what he needs to get inspired for Christmas Eve’, the wording continues.

‘This Men’s Let it Snow Ugly Christmas Sweater captures that moment when Santa is finally ready to enjoy the sweet, imported snow,’ the site adds about the ‘novelty’ clothing which did give some a laugh.

‘This is the best ugly Christmas sweater copy ever written’, Zorina Baksh tweeted, with Walmart’s hashtags in the post to get the retailer’s attention.

Other ‘ugly sweaters’ that were pulled featured St. Nick in compromising positions, including him climbing a chimney with his bare buttocks hanging over an burning fire place and the words, ‘Chestnuts roasting on an open fire’.

There also was a sweater with Santa, again bearing his behind, strapped to a table and about to be examined by an alien holding a ‘probe’.

Another sweater has a ‘naughty’ St. Nick being whipped by a white-haired dominatrix dressed in red, which presumably is supposed to be Mrs. Claus.
