Warning issued to Australians who own the popular Kmart air fryer after homeowners claim their splash tops and benchtops CRACK from the heat

  • A concerned shopper has issued a warning about Kmart’s popular air fryer
  • The popular air fryer left large cracks along the woman’s glass splashtop
  • It comes just days after another woman’s benchtop was damaged by air fryer
  • Kmart told Daily Mail it is very important to read the instruction manual

A Kmart shopper has warned others about leaving air fryers too close to objects, after heat from the popular appliance damaged her splashtop.

The woman named Meg posted a photo to a Kmart Facebook group showing the protective glass barrier with large cracks after it was left too close to the wall.

It comes less than a week after another Kmart shopper claimed their air fryer left their stone benchtop with cracks.

‘So, probs not a great idea to put the Air fryer in front of the glass splash back,’ the caption of the picture said.

One commenter pointed out: ‘My instructions say that it needs to be 30cm away from the wall.’

But another Facebook user said: ‘(It) Shouldn’t happen if it’s toughened glass, and supposed to be toughened glass behind cooktops.’

Just days ago Kmart shopper Serene posted the shocking image online showing a long crack in her dark stone benchtop.

‘Just an FYI and warning,’ she wrote. ‘Bought the big air fryer and have been loving it… until I noticed a big crack in my benchtop.’

Serene claims the heat emanating from the bottom of the 7.5 litre air fryer had caused the irreversible damage on her family’s counter.

The discovery of the damage was even more devastating for Serene, as she had just purchased her new home.

‘Yeah I am p***ed as I only bought the place three months ago. My perfect kitchen,’ she said.

Other Kmart fans were quick to comment on the photo, with many shocked at the damage.

‘I’m so sorry that has happened to you. It’s very thoughtful of you to warn others,’ one said.

‘Noooo! How terrible,’ another said.

Another customer claimed that the same 7.5 liter air fryer caused the same damage on her own stone kitchen benchtop.

Kmart has been contacted for comment regarding the damage related to their popular air fryer

Some suggested placing the air fryer on top of a bread board or tile for future protection.

‘It says in the instructions to put it (the air fryer) on something,’ one said.

‘You should always out the air fryer on a board. I am on a few air fryer sites and this does happen to stone bench tops. Extreme heat will crack them,’ another added.

In the product instruction manual, Kmart advises that the appliance should only be used on a ‘stable, horizontal, flat and heat resistant’ surface, and ‘placing the air fryer on an insulated heat pad is recommended.’
