A funny wrong number text conversation with a Missouri cop has had the internet in stitches.

The sender was simply texting a friend to invite them to a baseball game, and even enticed them with a free hot dog and soda.

But unbeknownst to the person texting, the messages were being sent to a Winfield, Missouri Police Department officer.

The embarrassing text exchange goes viral, after the texter told the cop they got high together

The officer, not yet identifying himself, simply replied, ‘I would love to go to game tonight. Sadly, I think you have the wrong number :(.’

However, the person who initiated the request assumed the ‘friend’ was just being forgetful and tried to jog her memory.

‘With Shari & Diana we got high together girl.’

A short time later the text recipient was revealed as a Winfield cop, who sent a photo flashing his badge and adding: ‘Pretty sure we didn’t get high together.’

He then added: ‘Are you still going to pick me up for the game though? I was really looking forward to going to the game.’

‘Wrong number,’ the person finally wrote.

The text exchange posted by the Winfield Police Department received more than 4,000 likes and at least 8,000 shares.

Even the police poked fun at the embarrassing moment, writing in their post: ‘We were invited to go to a baseball game tonight!!!! Unfortunately we don’t think they are gonna come pick us up.’
