Wedding guest slammed for list of VERY strict dietary requirements on the back of their RSVP

‘This is not a restaurant’: Wedding guest slammed for ‘tacky’ list of VERY strict dietary requirements on the back of their RSVP

  • A bride has hit out over a wedding guest’s request she provide a vegan meal
  • The request came with detailed instructions as to what the guest wanted to eat
  • The bride called the demand written on on the back of the RSVP ‘tacky’

A wedding guest has been slammed for their list of very strict dietary requirements on the back of their wedding RSVP.

Posting on Facebook, the bride-to-be, who it thought to be from the US, said she received the ‘tacky’ hand-written note on the back of an RSVP invitation for a buffet dinner.

The guest’s ‘vegan meal request’ asked the hosts for a ‘large salad bowl of mixed greens, sliced grape tomatoes, cucumbers and red onion’.

They added they would also like ‘olive oil (lots)’ on the side and lemon juice ‘if possible’.

The hand-written note from the guest goes to great lengths to explain exactly what the bride should include for her vegan catered meal (pictured)

The note was signed off ‘whatever’ along with a hand-drawn smiley face.

‘Prior to sending out the invites, she was made aware that salad would be served and that cheese would be served separately,’ the upset bride-to-be captioned her post.

The post, shared to a wedding shaming group on Facebook, received an outpouring of comments with many, including vegans, saying the guest’s catering demand was unrealistic.

‘One thing to put a friendly reminder of one’s definition of veganism in case,’ said one before adding, ‘another to specify exactly how to want someone to cater to you.

‘Especially when you are talking about a lifestyle choice and not a life-threatening issue.’

A second said: ‘Calling and asking if there will be a vegan option is one thing; detailing the exact salad you want for yourself is another.

‘This is a wedding, not a restaurant; the food isn’t made to order.’

‘There’s nothing wrong with stating she needs a vegan meal but it’s a bit strange to make up her own meal and in great detail,’ said another.

Someone else commented they thought it was ‘weird’ the guest had asked for extra toppings when they were already aware there would be a salad.

‘Charge her for the special request salad, and don’t have any lemons,’ they posted.

One person said her vegan friends had bought their own food to her wedding, a catering solution she found perfectly acceptable.

‘They don’t expect special treatment and always let people know they’ll supply their own food at events,’ she said.

Another said they too thought it would have been easier to simply turn up with food if the guest was that concerned about their dietary choices.

‘Unless they thought you were serving a dinner totally devoid of vegetables, this is so unnecessary,’ said a third.
