Weight loss company Jenny Craig ‘fail to comment’ on Mel B’s role

Is Mel B’s ‘$225,000’ endorsement at risk? Weight loss company Jenny Craig ‘fail to comment’ on star’s role with company as personal life continues to cause controversy

She strongly denied her ex-nanny’s accusations that she was addicted to drugs, sex, and alcohol earlier this month.

But it looks like the damage could already be done for Mel B, 43, as the controversy surrounding her personal life continues to fuel headlines.

The Sunday Telegraph have now reported that weight loss firm Jenny Craig have ‘failed to comment’ on whether Mel is still an active ambassador of the company.

Mel first started working with the brand in 2011, and has reportedly ‘been paid more than [AUD] $225,000’ since then for the celebrity endorsement.

The publication claim they approached Jenny Craig’s PR team, Project PR, for clarification on Mel’s current working relationship with them, but ’emails went ignored’.

An employee for Project PR later responded to them: ‘I have put your request in. I will let you know if I hear back.’

Television ads for the endorsement featuring Mel were still playing last month, with her still having a presence on their Facebook, YouTube and Instagram accounts.

Their apparent refusal to provide a public comment comes as Mel is still locked in a bitter custody battle with her ex-husband, Stephen Belafonte, 43.

After Mel’s ex-nanny made a series of sensational claims about her in a Los Angeles court earlier this month, the Spice Girl hit back during a chat with Daily Mirror.

‘It’s a smear campaign. They want to bring me down. I am not an alcoholic and I am not a sex addict,’ she reported to the outlet.

Mel’s ex Stephen also echoed the same claims during a recent interview.

Since then the star screened ‘clean for alcohol, marijuana, cocaine and addictive painkillers’ according to legal documents obtained by TMZ on Friday.

Mel agreed to random drugs tests in her custody battle with Stephen.

Mel was ‘tested on September 6, 7, and 10’ after Stephen accused her of being ‘an alcoholic and a sex addict who’s unfit to retain custody’ of their daughters Angel, 11, and Madison, seven.

Daily Mail Australia has reached out to Project PR and Mel’s rep for comment.

A spokesperson for Project PR said: ‘They are not refusing to comment at all! I’ve put in a request.’
