Wendy Williams’ son Kevin Hunter Jr. shares his fears for his mother’s drinking

Wendy Williams has checked into a wellness center, a representative for the talk show legend has confirmed.

‘Wendy is at a facility doing her best to be her best. She’s taking it day by day,’ her manager, Will Selby, revealed to ET Online.

‘I feel like everyone just puts out negative information about her and that’s the focus,’ Selby told ET Online. ‘Why don’t we just stop for a moment and just say, ‘Hey, how is she? Is she doing OK today?’ Why is that not the focus? Why isn’t that what we’re talking about on a daily basis?

Williams, 58, suffers from a raft of medical issues including lymphedema and Graves’ disease, and also endured the end of her long-running talk show following 13 years on air.

DailyMail.com has contacted representatives for Williams for comment.

Citing the various challenges Williams has faced in recent years, Selby added: ‘Just understand that she’s a human being that’s going through a lot. She’s dealing with a lot and support her, please.’

For now, the legendary radio host is focusing on her future.

‘She’s only thinking about things that she wants to do in her life,’ he added. ‘She’s only thinking about Wendy 2.0 and her new chapter of her life, and the things that she wants to accomplish, and that’s our focus.’

It all comes after Wendy’s son Kevin Hunter Jr. spoke out about his concerns for his mother, from fears of her entourage taking advantage of her to her drinking.

Speaking with The Sun, Kevin, 22, described how his mother’s drinking impacts her body differently than others. His mother, who suffers from various health issues, is unable to process the alcohol the same way an average individual can, Kevin claims.

‘I know the rate that she uses alcohol isn’t like a normal person- and we’ve spoken about it. I’ve said, “This is one thing where you don’t know how to approach it normally, and that’s fine.”

‘And it’s gotten to a point where yes, it could have that effect that it might be fatal because it affects her way worse than a normal person, since it stays in her system,’ he said.

‘There are a lot of people who are very aware that there is an issue with her drinking, and how that issue may be helped, but I think these people are taking advantage of it while allowing it to play out to make it look like they aren’t causing the issue,’ he said.

Kevin also took aim at Wendy’s team, claiming they have been ‘taking advantage’ of Wendy during a time of vulnerability.

‘What’s been made more important by the people around her is that while her health may not be great, she needs to keep on earning income, and in my opinion that should not be a priority at all,’ he said.

‘And whoever has been hired, they are taking advantage of someone who needs to get better.’

In his eyes, Wendy’s inner circle have only encouraged her drinking.

‘If they aren’t providing it, they are definitely enabling a type of personality and giving her the green light to drink,’ he claimed.

Wendy was seen out at various bars back in April, but her publicist Shawn Zanotti insisted it was all just a ‘celebration.’

Kevin said his mother’s health has taken a dip since he cared for her last year.

While looking after his mother from late 2021 to spring 2022, Kevin says his mother was working out and eating a healthier diet.

He also says he took her to restaurants where no alcoholic beverages were served.

Kevin also claimed his mother signed contracts while in rehab last year and immediately after her stint.

‘They had her in a position where she was agreeing to a lot that she shouldn’t have. When I heard that, that turned me off,’ he said.

‘In trying to attempt to know what everyone’s intention is around her, at first, I was like, okay this is the team she wants to have around.

‘But once I heard that she was agreeing to stuff around her rehab, I thought, “Well okay, they are taking advantage.”‘

Wendy was placed under a financial guardianship last year, and Kevin also raised issues he had with her guardian Sabrina Morrissey.

Selby shut down allegations made against him when asked for comment on the accusations by The Sun: ‘No comment because half of this stuff isn’t even true, majority of this is false.’

He also claimed he attempted to hash things out with him back in April.

‘I was in Miami with Kevin. I forced him to have a conversation because he seemed a little disgruntled. I spoke to him face to face, 1000%. I was like, “If there’s a problem, let’s talk. If there’s an issue, let’s have a conversation,”‘ he said.

Zanotti also refrained from providing comment to The Sun, however blasted his claims to ET Online: ‘This publication has released false narratives with the intent to release stories without fully vetting information, which is a disadvantage to the public, and is unprofessional and unethical. We ask that the world continues to pray for the well-being of Wendy as she continues to recover from a very traumatic two years.’

Selby added in his own remarks to ET Online: ‘Taking advantage of her for what? To get what? To do what? I’m not here to brag, but I was doing just OK before Wendy came along and I insisted on helping her because she requested my assistance.

‘Wendy is under a guardianship. Everything that she does gets approved by the guardianship. A court-appointed guardianship. So, no one, even if they wanted to take advantage of her — everything has to get approved by that court.

‘So, any type of business dealings that we do, Wendy, myself and anyone — we have to get the guardianship to sign off on it. So how can anyone take advantage of her?’
