Wendy’s employee is stabbed to death by a co-worker in the restaurant’s kitchen after an argument ‘got out of hand’

A worker at a Wendy’s restaurant was stabbed to death after he got into an argument with a co-worker in the kitchen that ‘escalated and got out of hand.’

Police said Herbert Redmond, 25, died at the scene after suffering a stab wound to his neck at the branch in Pearl, Mississippi at around 8pm Thursday.

A second man was arrested on suspicion of murder and taken into custody.

Greg Flynn, a city public information officer, told WAPT at the scene that no other employees or customers were hurt but the victim’s co-workers were visibly distressed.

He said: ‘A fight escalated and got out of hand and one of them grabbed a knife.’

Flynn said: ‘It’s a very sad situation. Two male employees got into a fight in the kitchen where they were both working.

‘One thing led to another and one stabbed the other one, apparently in the neck.

‘Unfortunately the employee that was stabbed has died.’

Flynn added: ‘It was a very chaotic scene when the officers arrived.’ 

Rankin County Coroner David Ruth identified the victim as 25-year-old Herbert Redmond of Jackson.
