West Ham have hired former Brentford, Nottingham Forest, QPR and Rangers manager Mark Warburton as an assistant coach to David Moyes.

Warburton, 59, will work with the first team from this weekend when the players return for pre-season training.

He joins Kevin Nolan, Billy McKinlay, Paul Nevin and Xavi Valero in Moyes’s back room staff.

Warburton took over at Brentford in 2013 after holding sporting director and assistant manager roles at the club.

He went on to manage in west London for two seasons before taking up the role of Rangers boss in June 2015.

In 2017, the former manager held a brief ten-month stint at Nottingham Forest in the Championship and later became QPR chief in 2019.

After his three seasons at the Kiyan Prince Foundation Stadium, QPR decided not to renew his contract in April and handed the position to 41-year-old Michael Beale.
