West Ham are monitoring developments around Everton’s central defender Michael Keane ahead of a potential move.

The Hammers are looking to make defensive reinforcements before the January window closes, given the fact they are just one point above the Premier League relegation zone.

And David Moyes’ side have identified Keane – who has made just one league appearance this year – as a potential option to bolster their defence.

Keane, 30, has made three appearances in all competitions this year, with his other two coming in the Toffees’ Carabao Cup run.

Given that he is out of favour with the struggling Merseyside club, it seems Moyes could be keen on bringing Keane to the London Stadium.

The Hammers are somewhat depleted in defence after Craig Dawson departed for relegation rivals Wolves earlier this month.

The confirmation of Dawson’s deal came days after David Moyes vented his frustration over the way in which Wolves conducted their pursuit of the 32-year-old.

Speaking ahead of West Ham’s clash with Wolves, Moyes said: ‘I might bid for one of them after the game and see how it goes.

‘Is it destabilising? By the way it is, yeah. Let’s be fair, Wolves tried to buy Daws in the summer and we said no at that time.’

West Ham would be the fourth Premier League team of Keane’s career, having had stints at Manchester United, Burnley and Everton.
