A West Point Academy cadet tried unsuccessfully to crowdfund the money he needed to cover the airfare and hotel lodging of a pornograhic actress he wanted to bring as his date to the school’s winter banquet.
The cadet got away with raising close to $400 when he decided, on advice from others of higher rank, to end the campaign.

When asked by a 2008 graduate who tried to donate to his Gofundme page what had happened, the military student explained that ‘Some cadets and officers were discomforted by the effort to bring Diamond Foxxx to YWW,’ reports Task & Purpose, a military and veteran-focused news site.
The cadet kept himself anonymous, due to the fact that he’s job searching and fears a Google search might return his name, along with ‘West Point’ and ‘porn star.’ He had billed the campaign as making ‘a young boy’s dream come true.’
West Point pushed back that it had actually ordered the cadet to give up the campaign (and his dream).
‘The cadet promptly removed the page from the site after consulting with his peers,’ the academy told Task & Purpose.
A statement from the school adds that members of the military are prohibited from ‘using their positions for personal gain.’
