Western Australian teenager missing following afternoon kayak

Fears grow for teen rower who failed to return from afternoon paddle – as his kayak is found abandoned on a riverbank

  • Kayaker Rowan James Lefevre was last seen on Wednesday at 1.30pm 
  • His kayak was later found abandoned on a riverbank, police said on Thursday
  • He was last seen wearing a dark t-shirt, blue board shorts and thongs  

The search is on for a 19-year-old kayaker who is missing after going for an afternoon paddle.

Rowan James Lefevre was last seen at 1.30pm on Wednesday went down to the Blackwood River near Schroeder in Western Australia on his own.

His kayak has since been found abandoned on a riverbank.

Western Australian Police said he left near Possy Road toward Alexander Bridge.  

Rowan was last seen wearing a dark t-shirt, a faded black peak cap, blue board shorts and thongs.

He is described as being 170cm, having short brown hair and weighing 52 kilograms. 

The kayak was found 6.5 kilometres from where he is believed to have started his expedition.

Police urge anyone with information to contact them on 131 444.
