Whale and calf filmed chilling off the Perth coastline 

  • A mother whale and her calf were spotted offshore near Mettams Pool in WA
  • They were filmed repeatedly rolling in the water and smacking their fins and tails

A whale and her calf put on quite a show for spectators in Perth on Thursday as the pair splashed about in the calm water.

The whales were spotted about 100 metres from shore near Mettams Pool, north of the city, according to 7News. 

The mother and son were filmed repeatedly rolling in the water and smacking their fins and tails against the waves.

A crowd gathered in a nearby parking lot to watch the performance but were warned to keep their distance for safety reasons. 

Drones were spotted flying over and recording the spectacle as crowds gathered.
