When AOC was a Manhattan bartender she quit her job after her ‘boss ranked staff on attractiveness’

When AOC was a Manhattan bartender she quit her job on the spot after ‘her boss ranked the staff in order of attractiveness and gave the best tables to the hottest’ – even though she WON

  • Democratic Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez reportedly quit her job at Coffee Shop on the spot in 2015 because of sexism
  • AOC’s former colleagues stated that a ‘culture of persistent and overt objectification’ existed at the Union Square establishment
  • Ryan Grim, a reporter and author of We’ve Got People, claimed a manager requested that the servers line up against the wall in 2015
  • The manager then allegedly ranked all of the servers by attractiveness and gave them tables based off the results
  • AOC is said to have won the competition but stormed out and refused to come back until there were no more ‘contests’ held
  • Her former colleagues remember the soon-to-be politician as being ‘different’ from the other servers and ‘always working towards something’
  • Coffee Shop closed in 2018 with the co-owner blaming the raise in minimum wage

A now closed restaurant and bar in Manhattan once allegedly tried to rank its servers in attractiveness – and one soon-to-be politician was not having it.

Democratic Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez reportedly quit her job at Coffee Shop on the spot in 2015 because of the alleged sexism she and the other servers experienced.

Ryan Grim, a reporter and author of We’ve Got People, spoke with various colleagues of AOC’s who all confirmed that a ‘culture of persistent and overt objectification’ existed at the Union Square establishment, Jezebel reports.

Coffee Shop was known for its questionable methods in hiring ‘aspiring models’ and the like.

The bar and restaurant reportedly even had a separate section in the basement that was geared towards members-only.

Grim writes that in 2015, a manager requested that all the servers line up against the wall so that they could be ranked by how attractive they were.

The manager would then give the servers tables based off of how hot he thought they were, it is claimed.

Ocasio-Cortez – who was actually said to have won the contest – immediately stormed out of the establishment and quit on the spot.

The firebrand only returned to the eatery after management ‘pleaded’ for her return and promised that no other ‘contests’ would be held at the establishment again, it is claimed.

AOC’s former colleagues remember the soon-to-be politician as being ‘different’ from the other servers.

‘She was always working towards something,’ a barback explained to Grim.

Coffee Shop closed last year and the politician stopped by to ‘say hi one last time, and kid around with friends like old times.’

The establishment had been open for 28 years and the closure was due to an increase in the state’s minimum wage, a co-owner said.

AOC will be getting back to her bartending roots when she participates in a Queens event on Friday to raise awareness for the Raise the Wage Act.
