Where are the cast of Ocean Girl now?

For three years in the early nineties, Australian kids and their parents were obsessed with Neri, the mysterious water-loving alien girl and her friends at ORCA.

Starring the beautiful, equally mysterious Marzena Godecki, Channel Ten’s Sci-Fi classic shot to international success, before fizzling-out after just four seasons.

During it’s short-run, it was the highest-rated show on America’s Disney Channel and earned syndication in a whopping 17 countries.

Praised for its cinematic scope and  ambition, but it was the depiction of Neri as a brave, empowered young woman that was truly ahead of its time.

Shockingly, it’s been 20 long years since Neri, the Bates brothers and Orca came together to save her home from destruction and foil UBRI and PRAXIS’ evil plans.

Some of the cast, like Samuel Johnson and Pamela Rabe, have gone on to form massive careers, but many, including Marzena, seemingly vanished into thin air.

So just what happened to the cast of Channel Ten’s Ocean Girl?

Marzena Godecki: Neri

In 2008, Marzena married Damian D’Odorico, opened a kid’s clothing store in Melbourne called Tiny Threads, and even had a couple children of her own.

A career in entertainment was never on the cards, and the multi-talented icon appears to be more-than-content with her low-profile lifestyle.

But outside of acting, Joel ‘JD’ Carteret has had a whirlwind, astonishing life so fascinating, his story became the subject of a 60 Minutes documentary this year.

Titled The Long Way Home, it focused on his attempt to find his long-lost mother, after the pair became separated in a crowded Manila marketplace when he was 5.

Five-years-later, and he was starring as Froggy on Ocean Girl, in what would be his first and last scripted role, but definitely not the end of his career in the spotlight.

Ten years after the show wrapped, JD re-appeared on TV, but this time to explore another of his passions: dancing.
